Farewell Beauty & the Beast

The stage is empty...the costumes hung up...the props returned to their closets. The show now lives on the hearts of all those who helped maked it such a huge success. Thank you to everyone!

Theater Arts Update

Next year promises to be one of the best year's for the Theater Arts program at CHS. In addition to 2 sections of Theater Arts I, the administration has approved a separate Theater Arts II course!

What this means is that our core program will be expanded, offering more training in the performing arts, improv, method acting, puppeteering, and more technical theater.

It is my hope that we can expand this program even further to incorporate field trips, special guest presenters, and (fingers crossed) renovate certain aspects of our theater.

If you would like to help see our theater grow, please contact the school board and the CHS administration and express to them your wishes of improving and expanding our performing arts program.

Photos & More Coming Soon

Now that life is slowly returning to normal, I will have more time available to update this site as it really should look with cool features, links to performing arts resources, as well as photos and perhaps video clips from the recent shows. Please be patient or, if you're interested in volunteering your help contact me via email: info@chsdrama.com Thanks!

New Theater Needed

Yes, it's a pipe dream. Our economy is still recovering, the monies once readily available to support the arts are being earmarked for other uses. Students who'd like to pursue their dream of acting or directing have to decide if Theater Arts will fit into their already packed schedule.

On top of that, our theater (and for that matter our entire school) is outdated--approaching 30+ years of operation!

The lighting booth needs a massive overhaul, the lighting itself (including the ellipsoidals, fresnels, cams, etc.) and the rigging need to be redesigned and updated to modern, more energy efficient fixtures. We're missing curtains, our dressing rooms must be shared with band as practice rooms.

Sadly, we're also desperately in need of space to store the beautiful scenery created for our spring show "Disney's Beauty & the Beast"--frankly, we may have to get rid of pieces if we can't find a means of storage. As it is, the fine arts department can barely fit into the space we do have.

Do you have any ideas, suggestions, or available storage options? Have several hundred thousand dollars burning a hole in your pocket and want to make a charitable donation that would name the new theater after your family? (Ok, so that's pushing the pipe dream a little)

You can help. Donations to the arts are ALWAYS accepted.
